Who is valentina?

VALENTYNA MASLOVSKA-BIRGIEL is a vocalist, songwriter, composer, and vocal coach.

She graduated with distinction from a Jazz and Popular Music program in Rzeszów, where she developed her vocal and compositional craft, and she also holds a degree in English Philology from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin.

She began composing during her studies, exploring her own artistic language across genres — from jazz and folk to alternative pop. Today, her music blends organic live instrumentation with contemporary production, moving between pop, indie, and soul aesthetics.

Her voice is characterised by a warm, ethereal quality and a strong vocal technique that creates an intimate and magnetic connection with the listener.

VALENTINA is her independent artistic project, initiated in 2020 in collaboration with close musician friends. This led to her debut album VALENTINA vol.1 – Początki (2024), recorded in collaboration with Damian Sąsiadek, Paweł Jarosiński, Nikodem Ziółkowski, Amelia Rozmus, and Mati Garbacz, and released after winning the #free30 competition.

The album received critical recognition, was listed among the Top 10 albums of the Podkarpacie region, and placed third in the audience vote at the Werbel 2023 awards. It features nine original tracks and two bonus pieces, each reflecting a personal stage of her artistic and life journey.

Her second release, VALENTINA vol.2 – Przewróciłam stronę, was created in collaboration with producer Adam “bieran” Bieranowski. The album premiered with a launch concert at the Tadeusz Nalepa Studio Concert Hall of Polish Radio Rzeszów. An acoustic version of the album was later released in collaboration with musician Mati Garbacz, offering a more intimate interpretation of the material.

In 2022, Valentyna co-founded the band Midsommar, working within shoegaze and dream pop aesthetics as a vocalist, lyricist, and co-composer. The project has performed at festivals including OFF Festival, Soundrive Festival, and Great September, as well as at venues across Poland.

She is a laureate of national festivals and competitions including Cała Jaskrawość, Dino Top, Piosenka w Meloniku, #free30, and the television programme Szansa na Sukces, where her performance has received nearly 200,000 views online.

She has performed at venues including the Podkarpacka Philharmonic, Estrada Rzeszowska, NOWA in Poznań, and Chmury in Warsaw, as well as at major cultural events such as the European Stadium of Culture.

Alongside her artistic career, she has been working as a vocal coach since 2019, continuously developing her practice through further training and study with experienced specialists.

She is currently furthering her education in Musical Theatre at Associated Studios, expanding her practice as an actress and musical theatre performer while continuing to develop her artistic and vocal expression and prepare new musical releases.

For me, creating is an energy I can completely dissolve into — a space where I lose track of time and enter a state of deep presence.

Focused potential

My approach to voice work combines vocal functionality with knowledge from fields such as osteopathy, physiotherapy, and an understanding of the nervous system and the psycho-physical state of the human body. I also integrate creative techniques from acting to support emotional expression and expand vocal potential.

I am a graduate of a 5-year Jazz and Popular Music program, which gave me a strong foundation in vocal performance and artistry. My approach has also been shaped by Modern Vocal Training, MIX workshops and scientific conferences, as well as my exploration of Flow Phonation by Hubert Noé, Bel Canto, the Alexander Technique, and the Feldenkrais Method for singers. I was introduced to CVT through masterclasses, but do not apply this technique in my teaching practice.

Rather than following one fixed methodology, I have developed my own integrated approach through years of teaching, performing, creating, and continuously studying the voice.

At the heart of my work is the Focused Potential Method — a personalised system built around each person’s individual strengths, natural abilities, and existing potential. I believe the person comes before the technique. By understanding each individual’s voice, goals, physical patterns, nervous system, and the possible roots of their challenges, I create a strategy that supports their development from what is already strong.

My work also extends beyond vocal technique. As an independent artist, songwriter and performer, I have experienced the process of developing original material, releasing music, performing, and shaping my own artistic direction. This allows me to support artists not only in their vocal development, but also in making conscious choices about their artistic expression.

My academic research focused on “The importance of a complex and multidimensional approach to singing education.”

I have been teaching since 2019 and developing my own vocal practice for over 16 years, continuously training with experienced specialists and coaches.

I continue to develop my knowledge, practice, and experience every day — both on stage and through my work with students. Every person I work with teaches me something new and helps me better understand the many ways a voice can develop.

My role is to support each person’s process with knowledge, curiosity, honesty, and care — staying open, attentive, and responsive to their individual needs at every stage of their development.

My priority in THIS work is kindness, clarity and respect for the person in front of me.
